The Authors

Bridget Canning

Bridget Canning’s short fiction has been short-listed for The Cuffer Prize and won awards with the BC Federation of Writers Literary Writes competition and the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and Letters. In 2015, The Greatest Hits of Wanda Jaynes (then titled Impulse) received an Honourable Mention with the Atlantic Writing Competition. Her writing has been published in several Canadian literary journals. She was selected as one of the 2015 apprentices with the Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Mentorship Program and in 2017 was awarded the 2017 Cox & Palmer SPARKS Creative Writing Award. She lives in St. John’s where she writes and works as a College Instructor.

Kathleen Winter

KATHLEEN WINTER's novel Annabel was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Governor General's Literary Award, the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, the Orange Prize, and numerous other awards. It was also a Globe and Mail "Best Book," a New York Times "Notable" book, a Quill & Quire"Book of the Year" and #1 bestseller in Canada. It has been published and translated worldwide. Her Arctic memoir Boundless (2014) was shortlisted for Canada's Weston and Taylor non-fiction prizes, and her last novel Lost in September (2017) was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award and was a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award. Born in the UK, Kathleen now lives in Montreal after many years in Newfoundland.

Robert Chafe

Robert Chafe has worked in theatre, dance, opera, radio and film. His stage plays have been seen in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and in the United States, and include Oil and Water, Tempting Providence, Afterimage, Under Wraps and The Colony of Unrequited Dreams. He has been shortlisted twice for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama, and he won the award in 2010. He is the playwright and Artistic Director of Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland. Two-Man Tent is his first work of fiction. He lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
