Join us for the launch of a bold and breathtaking anthology of queer Indigenous speculative fiction, edited by Joshua Whitehead, the author of Jonny Appleseed.

This exciting and groundbreaking fiction collection showcases a number of new and emerging 2SQ (Two-Spirit and queer) Indigenous writers from across Turtle Island. These visionary authors show how queer Indigenous communities can bloom and thrive through utopian narratives that detail the vivacity and strength of 2SQness throughout its plight in the maw of settler colonialism's histories.

Here, readers will discover bioengineered AI rats, transplanted trees in space, the rise of a 2SQ resistance camp, a primer on how to survive Indigiqueerly, virtual reality applications, mother ships at sea, and the very bending of space-time continuums queered through NDN time. Adam Garnet Jones (he/him): Adam Garnet Jones is a Two-Spirit Nehiyow IndigiQueer from Edmonton Alberta. He is an award-winning feature filmmaker, TVwriter, and novelist who currently lives and works in Tkaronto. jaye simpson (they/them): jaye simpson is an Oji-Cree Saulteaux Two Spirit non binary transwoman whose roots hail from the Sapotaweyak and Skownan Cree Nation. jaye holds firm their rage about being a former youth in care,as well as a queer indigenous person and weaves it into poetry, prose and fiction. they dream of Indigiqueer futurisms. jaye is a displaced indigenous person resisting, ruminating and residing on x?m?θk??y??m (Musqueam), s?l?ilw?ta?? (Tsleil-waututh), and s?wx?wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations territories

Joshua Whitehead

JOSHUA WHITEHEAD is an Oji-Cree/nehiyaw, Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer member of Peguis First Nation (Treaty 1). He is the author of the novel Jonny Appleseed (Arsenal Pulp Press), which was longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and shortlisted for a Governor General's Literary Award in Fiction, and the poetry collection full-metal indigiqueer (Talonbooks), which was shortlisted for the inaugural Indigenous Voices Award for Most Significant Work of Poetry in English and the Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Poetry. Currently, he is working on a PhD in Indigenous Literatures and Cultures at the University of Calgary's English department (Treaty 7).

Nazbah Tom

Nazbah Tom (they/them): Nazbah Tom s a Diné queer writer and their work has been featured in anthologies both online and in hard print. Find them kayaking up and down the Rouge River this summer and writing at midnight when the world is quiet and slumbering.
